Kledingbank Maxima

Kledingbank Maxima is a charitable foundation in the province of Groningen that operates several clothing banks. The shops function like regular fashion stores, but without a cash register: people on a limited income can select clothing free of charge in a dignified manner.

In addition to its social mission, Maxima faces a sustainability challenge. Each year, a large volume of clothing is collected that is either of insufficient quality or remains unsold in the shops for too long. This residual stream is currently processed by a textile recycler, but Kledingbank Maxima is seeking more sustainable and preferably local alternatives that also create social value.

Within this context, the Financial Advisory Team (FAT) is involved. In consultation with various stakeholders within Kledingbank Maxima, and supported by financial analyses and discussions with external partners, the team is working to identify feasible and sustainable solutions for processing this residual clothing stream.
